All three instances make clear that the recourse to Jew hatred/"antizionism"/Israel conspiracy beliefs as either an explanation or a source of political credit has functional value: it camouflages intellectual and ideological bankruptcy.
I often feel similarly. But I do think that by at least naming these patterns, we can give ourselves back a sense of sanity amid the storm of hate. And the better we know the way hatred against us is actually manifesting, the better we can strategize to fight it. Thanks for your comment.
THAT is a brilliant analysis, Hen. Congratulations to you for having deduced that. Your mind is extremely sharp! I don't give in easily to envy. Otherwise I'd be a slight shade of green, sitting here, sipping my Robusta coffee.
I would add another angle to this and that is when Jews (including Zionist ones) throw around terms like “Gestapo” when referencing the horrendous abuses of human rights perpetrated by US ICE agents (and under the orders of Trump). People like @Elissa Wald (and who I urge people to share this article as she has blocked me for calling out the utter inappropriateness of transposing and conflating such monikers). Her excuse was that she was lecturing to “right-wing Jews” about what bad Jews they are for supporting Trump. My argument was that she could do so using correct and responsible language. On every other matter, I have agreed with, supported, shared and been grateful for her voice, but on this, she became brittle and nasty, refusing to acknowledge the harm she was doing by engaging in distorted references to Anne Frank, Nazism and Holocaust. (Recently, I shared a video of anti-Trump supporters calling Jews Nazis and her response was “I don’t support Trump”.) When anyone, including well-meaning Jews, turn terminology and historically-specific events distinct to the Holocaust and to the whole of Jewish history into nothing more than a wholesale name brand to describe unconscionable government, leadership and citizen behaviours, we end up with a truly fucked up moral inversion of what is happening in this world. Thank you, Hen, for naming things with accuracy, awareness, and historical and contemporary insight - and not compromising your progressive values to do so. Words always matter. If they didn’t, people would not use them.
I warned about Platner for months and did what I could to highlight the remaining Democrats in the race. Clearly that helped tremendously. ::sigh:: I am sorry so much of Maine is pro-Nazi. I am horrified at the hate where I live and wish everyone else was horrified, too.
One question about this otherwise insightful analysis? Was the original "HH" sarcastic, to critique an overreach of power by the official bring criticized? If so, does that change the analysis? And does it suggest another flaw in the algorithm--a failure to detect sarcasm?
Whats wrong with using a shock collar on a dog? It doesnt hurt much and is a quick and humane way to stop negative behaviors. It is unrelated to Piker's antisemitism, which is egregious enough to stand alone.
Instead of stating that this jerk “sent sex messages” which sounds kind of white washy, state what these messages actually said. By being explicit, it would better reveal his character and have more shock value.
I am grateful for every single person whose brain hasn’t been boiling in totalitarian Nazi sludge. And grateful for you too. Shit times

Thank you, that's a great way of phrasing it.
It makes me wonder if there even is a way to fight antisemitism if every time we do, the bad people just benefit from it anyways. What’s the point?

Thank you, Ira! That means a lot to me.
